Rewarding Cleaning Jobs in Brisbane: Flexible Work for 2026

There are plenty of cleaning jobs in Brisbane. Most work the same way — sign on with an agency, get put on a roster, clean whoever needs cleaning that week. Family Clean is built differently. We’re a matchmaker, not an agency. We connect you with families and individuals who become your regulars — the dog who knows you, the home where you know exactly where everything lives — and you’re paid on the day you do the job. We’ve been matching Brisbane crews with families since 1994. We’re selective on both sides. When it works, it’s because we took as much care choosing your clients as we did choosing you.

What you get as a Family Clean crew member in Brisbane:

Build a schedule around your life — Build a schedule that works around your life, with most opportunities landing in school hours

Solo or paired — apply on your own or team up with someone you trust

Everything’s ready for you — clients supply all equipment and cleaning products

Cover when you’re away — we’ll keep your clients looked after with temporary support until you’re back

What’s different: we’re a matchmaker, not a roster. You become a regular, friendly face to the families you’re matched with. Our crew care team offers real human support, and our matchmakers do the work of finding and placing you.

Who it suits:

• Cleaners seeking more clients and varied work

• Parents wanting work around school hours

• Anyone leaving traditional employment

• Students and semi-retirees

• People who want part-time work with proper backup

Sound good? Apply to work with us today. Immediate starts available.

Why work with Family Clean instead of the other Brisbane cleaning jobs?

Being your own boss is one of the best parts about this work — your hours, your clients, the flexibility to build your week around the rest of your life. We back that fully. What we add — and it’s the bit most cleaning recruiters skip — is someone in your corner when a client cancels last minute, when your back’s playing up, or when you just want to ask another human if it’s normal that the cat keeps watching you mop.

Behind every match sits our crew care team. Real humans. Phone numbers, not ticket systems. New to the work? They’ll walk you through it. Tricky client? They’ll help out. Heading away on holiday or off sick? We’ll cover your clients with temporary support until you’re back, so you don’t lose your run.

What does the work look like in Brisbane?

We match crews with families right across Brisbane — from the inner-north (Paddington, Bardon, Ashgrove) and the eastern suburbs (Bulimba, Hawthorne, Coorparoo), through to the western corridor (Toowong, Indooroopilly, Kenmore), the bay (Wynnum, Manly, Sandgate), and the north (Chermside, Aspley, Stafford and beyond). Wherever you’re starting from, there are families and individuals nearby looking for the right match.

A typical week is school-hours cleans Monday to Friday — work that slots neatly between drop-off and pickup, with weekends still your own. You pick the jobs that work for you; we handle the matching and admin so you can focus on the actual work.

How much do cleaning jobs in Brisbane pay with Family Clean?

Cleaners providing a Barefoot Basics service earn $40 per hour, paid on the day of service. No waiting fortnight to fortnight wondering when payroll might hit. The work is bathroom and floor focused — the kind of clean families don’t have time for, but that completely changes the feel of a home. People who prefer routine over variety, and know their way around hard floors, soft floors and porous tiles excel in this role.

Home Assistants earn $50 per hour, paid on the day of service. The role goes a step beyond cleaning, into household help. Alongside cleaning, clients may ask for help with tidying, laundry, changing beds, prepping a simple meal, walking the dog, decluttering/organising home spaces. It suits people who enjoy the relational side of in-home work, and thrive on variety and switching gears easily.

What’s provided:

• A hand-picked match with families that suit you

• Regular work coming through an easy to use system

• A crew care team you can actually call for advice

• Equipment and cleaning products at every job — clients supply them, so no lugging a vacuum between jobs or stocking up on sprays out of your own pocket

What’s expected:

This isn’t the kind of work where showing up is enough — but if you already know that, you’ll fit right in. The families we match you with open their homes and the rhythm of their daily life. We take that seriously and we think you will too.

What we bring in return: same-day pay, real backup whenever you need it, and flexibility that suits your life — not the other way round.

If this sounds like the work you’ve been looking for, we’d like to hear from you.

Frequently asked questions about cleaning jobs in Brisbane

Do I need experience to apply?

What matters most is initiative, reliability, and a genuine care for other people’s homes. Many of our strongest crew members came to us from hospitality, aged care, childcare, and other hands-on roles where attention to detail and working independently were already second nature. If you’re someone who walks into a room and sees what needs doing — you’ll do well here.

What hours can I work?

You can start building your schedule as soon as you begin requesting jobs. Most of the work sits within school hours, Monday to Friday — perfect if you want to be home for pickup or you’d rather keep your evenings and weekends to yourself. You choose the jobs that fit your week.

How quickly can I start?

Once you’ve completed onboarding, you can start being matched with clients straight away. Most new crew members build towards their preferred schedule within the first few weeks as new opportunities come through daily.

Do I need an ABN to work with Family Clean?

Yes — you’ll need an active ABN before you start, as Home Assistants and Barefoot Basics Cleaners operate as independent contractors. If you don’t have one yet, it’s free to register through the Australian Business Register and usually takes around fifteen minutes online. We’re happy to point you in the right direction during onboarding if it’s your first time setting one up.

Do I bring my own products and equipment?

No — for hygiene reasons, each family supplies the products and equipment used in their home. That keeps things clean between visits (so nothing travels from one home to the next) and means you’ll always be using products and tools suited to the home’s surfaces and preferences. What to expect: a vacuum, mop, bucket, cloths, brushes, multi-purpose spray, glass cleaner and floor cleaner. We share a Handy Equipment List with every family during the booking stage — one for Barefoot Basics services and one for Home Assistant services — so both sides know exactly what’s needed before you arrive on the day.

What insurance do I need?

You’ll need public liability insurance in place before you start with families — it protects you and the home in the rare event something goes wrong on the job. We can point you to providers other Home Assistants and Cleaners have used during onboarding.

Is this employment or am I a contractor?

Home Assistants and Cleaners work with Family Clean as independent contractors, not employees. That means you build and manage your own schedule and shape work around the rest of your life. We take care of the matching, admin, and support, so you can focus on doing great work in the homes you’re matched with.

How are clients matched to me in Brisbane?

This is a science! Using all the juicy details you share at onboarding about your skills and experience, alongside each family’s requirements and wishlist for their service, we match you with clients based on location, availability, and overall fit. It’s a personal touch that makes the world of difference for both sides.

Can I choose which suburbs I work in?

You let us know how far you can travel to jobs, and we’ll factor that into every match. As to be expected, a bit of travel comes with the territory in this kind of work — and the wider your reach, the more opportunities come your way.

Do I have to take every match offered?

No — you’re able to accept or pass on the matches we send through. Life happens, school holidays come around, and not every opportunity will line up with your week. The more you communicate your availability and preferences to us, the more often the matches that come your way will be ones that genuinely suit you.

Is there a minimum number of hours per week?

There’s no minimum hours requirement, you’re free to build your schedule at your own pace. Some crew members take on just a few hours during school days; others build a fuller schedule across the week.

What happens if a client isn’t a good fit?

We want both you and your clients to be a great fit for each other, but sometimes a match just doesn’t click. If that happens and the problem can’t be fixed through communication and feedback on both sides, let us know as soon as possible and we’ll step in to help.
