Why Brisbane Cleaners Choose Family Clean

What I enjoy most about working with FC is the flexible working conditions, the great hourly rate, and the very supportive staff team. These are things that are often lacking in other companies, so it really makes FC stand out as a positive and comfortable workplace. I would definitely recommend FC to friends who are interested in working as a home assistant because the team is understanding, professional, and supportive of workers.

— Phub & Nim, Sherwood
“As someone who works with Family Clean as a Home Assistant, I thoroughly recommend this service to anyone wanting to earn a little extra. Quality and care is taken with every client and support is paramount as a Home Assistant.
Communication with both the client and the assistant are next level and both are always supported along the way. Thoroughly recommend this company ❤️

— Cyndi, Eight Mile Plains

It’s been so great so far. The systems are easy to navigate and the team has been very supportive and friendly. I was looking for a job to fit around my lifestyle and working with family clean has absolutely done that. I love knowing I am able to take some of the work load off families or couples that are in need of a little extra help. Thank you!

— Shivanna, Springfield

How We Work Together

You stay independent

You work as an independent contractor, not an employee — your ABN, your hours, your week. You tell us where you can reasonably travel to, the days that suit you and which matches you say yes to. Most crew members build their week around school hours, Monday to Friday, and keep evenings and weekends their own.

How clients get matched to you

When a Brisbane household comes to us looking for a Home Assistant or cleaner, we look for a crew member who’s the right fit — some considerations are skills, availability and location. Brisbane is one of the most geographically spread cities in the country, and the river creates a genuine divide between northside and southside that matters practically. A client in Wynnum and a client in The Gap are both technically Brisbane, but they’re the better part of an hour apart.

When you apply, you’ll tell us where you can reasonably travel to — northside, southside, inner suburbs, west, or a mix. We work to match client requests to crew members in a way that makes geographic sense for both sides. When there’s a potential match, we’ll reach out to you. If a particular client or location doesn’t suit, you can pass — the goal is a connection that works for both of you.

What FC handles, what’s on you

We take care of the matching, the admin, and the support — there’s a Crew Care team you can actually reach, plus cover for your regular clients when you’re away or unwell, so your run stays intact. On your side: an ABN, your own public liability insurance (both active for the duration of your time with us), and a genuine care for every home you walk into.

How Much Do Family Clean Cleaners Earn in Brisbane?

Barefoot Basics Cleaner

$40 / hour

You’ll be nailing the two biggest hitters in any home: every bathroom and every floor to a really high standard. It’s consistent, clearly scoped work, every week or fortnight.

Home Assistant

$50 / hour

A broader role for households that need cleaning and more. You’ll take on laundry, organisation, light meal prep and the kind of steady, capable support that keeps a busy household running.

Once a service is complete, clients will pay you directly on the same day.

Meet Some of the Family Clean Brisbane Crew

Shivanna – Home Assistant

📍Springfield

⏰ 3 months with FC

Shivanna joined FC in early 2026 and quickly made her mark across Springfield and Brisbane’s south. With a background in childcare and nannying, caring for busy families comes naturally to her — she steps in to lighten the load, resetting and restoring a home so it feels calm and looked after. Her clients know the feeling: you walk through the door and finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Phub & Nim – HA & Cleaners

📍Sherwood

⏰ 6 years with FC

Phub and Nim are a husband-and-wife team who’ve been with FC since 2019, caring for homes across Sherwood and Brisbane’s west. Working side by side, they bring honesty, genuine teamwork and a real eye for detail to every job — and after six years and countless homes, there’s not much they haven’t seen. Clients love that they treat each home as if it were their own.

Cyndi – Home Assistant

📍Eight Mile Plains

⏰ 8 months with FC

Cyndi joined FC in mid-2025 and looks after homes across Eight Mile Plains and Brisbane’s south. Efficient, caring and wonderfully detail-driven, she has a knack for spotting the little things others miss — and fixing them on the spot. Clients feel genuinely looked after by her, and love coming home to a space that’s been lovingly cared for.

Brisbane Cleaning Jobs FAQs

The questions you’re Googling at 11pm — answered straight.

Yes — you’ll need an active ABN before you start, as Home Assistants and Barefoot Basics Cleaners work with Family Clean as independent contractors. If you don’t have one yet, it’s free to register through the Australian Business Register and usually takes around fifteen minutes online. We’re happy to point you in the right direction during onboarding if it’s your first time setting one up.

Home Assistants and Barefoot Basics Cleaners work with Family Clean as independent contractors, not employees. That means you build and manage your own schedule and shape the work around the rest of your life. We take care of the matching, admin and support, so you can focus on doing great work in the homes you’re connected with.

You’ll need public liability insurance in place before you start with families and for the duration of your time with us — it protects you and the home in the rare event something goes wrong on the job. We can point you to providers other Home Assistants and Barefoot Basics Cleaners have used, and we’ll cover this during onboarding.

Most of the work sits within school hours, Monday to Friday — perfect if you want to be home for pickup or keep your evenings and weekends free. You choose which jobs fit your week and build your schedule from there.

No — for hygiene reasons, each family supplies the products and equipment used in their home. That keeps things clean between visits and means you’ll always be working with products and tools suited to that home’s surfaces. What to expect at a typical Brisbane home: a vacuum, mop, bucket, cloths, brushes, multi-purpose spray, glass cleaner and floor cleaner. We share a Handy Equipment List with every family during the booking stage, so both sides know exactly what’s needed before you arrive. One thing worth knowing: Brisbane homes often have more outdoor space than you’d find in other cities — patios, alfresco areas and pool surrounds can sometimes come up as part of the Home Assistant role. Clients will let you know in their booking details and at the walk-through if this will be required for their service.

This is a science. Using the details you share at onboarding — your skills, experience and where you can travel — alongside each family’s requirements for their service, we match you with clients based on location, availability and overall fit. Brisbane’s geography plays into this more than most cities: the river divides northside and southside in ways that matter practically, so the more clearly you can tell us where you work, the better the matches we can send your way.

There’s no minimum — you’re free to build your schedule at your own pace. Some crew members take on just a few hours during school days; others build a fuller week across multiple clients. We simply ask that you’re reliable and keep us in the loop when your availability changes.

You can work anywhere you’re able to travel to. You let us know how far you can reasonably travel, and we factor that into every match. Brisbane is large and many crew members focus on one side of the river — plenty work exclusively northside or southside and rarely need to cross. The wider your reach, the more opportunities come your way, but there’s no pressure to stretch further than makes sense for you.

Once you’ve completed onboarding, you can start being matched with clients straight away. Most new crew members build toward their preferred schedule within the first few weeks as opportunities come through daily across Brisbane.

You let us know as far in advance as you’re able to, and we manage the client side from there. There’s no approval process — you’re a contractor and your time is your own. The more notice you can give, the smoother things are for the households you’re connected with.

This can happen – even with our careful matching process. If you find it’s not a good fit after a service or two, and a conversation between you and the client can’t smooth it over, let us know and we’ll help to explore a new match.

not just the clean.

Shivanna did her first clean today. In 20 years of having various cleaners from different agencies, she is by far the best cleaner we have ever come across. By a country mile. Your clients would be climbing over each other to have her if they knew just how good she was.”

Jon F. · Coorparoo

★★★★★

“I would just like to say that we are very impressed with Phub & Nim’s service, and most importantly, very impressed with them as people. We feel very fortunate to have their ongoing assistance. They work hard each fortnight and the quality of their work is consistently high and their work ethic has not dropped off at all.”

Deanna s. · sinnamon park

“Cyndi is attentive and thorough… she is getting to know my quirks. I have some health issues that require some adjustments and Cyndi has been very responsive and understanding.”
