Setting your Home Assistant up for Success
Your Home Assistant will use your cleaning products and equipment – this keeps things hygienic and means they’re using what works best for your surfaces and preferences.
Here’s what’s great to have on hand:
Equipment
- Corded or fully charged vacuum (with enough battery for your whole home)
- Mop & bucket (microfibre heads work well on most surfaces)
Cleaning products
- Multi-purpose spray or diluted vinegar
- Paste or cream cleanser for tough grime (e.g. Jif or Gumption — note: slightly abrasive)
- Glass/window cleaning spray
- Toilet cleaner
- Floor cleaner
- Dish detergent
Supplies
- Microfibre cloths (at least 5) & glass cloths (2–3)
- Scrubbing brush (for bathroom surfaces)
- Separate sponges for kitchen & bathroom
- Plastic gloves
- Bin bags
- Paper towels
Please make sure products are suitable for your surfaces, and let your Home Assistant know about any delicate areas during your walk-through or product usage preferences.
Quick tips:
Eco-friendly and chemical-free options are widely available at supermarkets (healthy for your home and Home Assistant).
For mops, a microfibre head with a good bucket and wringing system helps minimise streaks (Sabco systems are available at Bunnings, Big W, and most supermarkets)
