How We Work Together
You stay independent
Working as an independent contractor, you hold your own ABN and arrange your own schedule to suit your week. When you apply, you let us know how far you can reasonably travel across Adelaide, which days work for you, and the matches you’re able to take on. In practice, most crew members settle into the school day, Monday to Friday, keeping their evenings and weekends free.
How clients get matched to you
Matching starts with your application. The details you share — your background, skills, experience and the areas that suit you — are considered alongside what each Adelaide family is looking for, with location, availability and overall fit all part of the picture. If it looks right for both sides, we’ll get in touch with the details so you can decide from there. Many matches then settle into a steady rhythm: the same home, the same faces, and a regular slot that suits everyone.
What FC handles, what’s on you
We look after the matching, the admin and the ongoing support. That includes a Crew Care team you can reach when you need to, plus cover for your regular clients if you’re ever sick or away, so the homes you care for aren’t left without. Your part is straightforward: an active ABN, your own public liability insurance for as long as you’re with us, a police check — and, importantly, genuine care for every home you walk into.

Meet Some of the Family Clean Adelaide Crew
Megan – Home Assistant
Cheltenham
9 months with FC
What drives Megan is simple: she genuinely loves making life easier for the people she looks after. With FC since late 2025, she cares for homes across Cheltenham and Adelaide’s north, drawing on solid experience in housekeeping and end-of-lease cleaning. Reliable and hardworking, she’s the type to go the extra mile — fussing over the little details others might miss — so her clients can come home to one less thing to worry about.
Hannah – Home Assistant
O’Hallaran Hill
8 months with FC
Hannah cares for homes across O’Halloran Hill and Adelaide’s south with real heart and a sharp eye for detail. Having run her own cleaning business and work in childcare and support roles, she’s brought both skill and genuine warmth to her clients — she loves getting stuck into a home and making it feel brand new again. Reliable and hardworking, she takes real pride in leaving every space spotless and cared for.
Britt – Home Assistant
Athelstone
1.5 years with FC
Bubbly and full of energy, Britt has been brightening up homes around Athelstone and Adelaide’s north-east since early 2025. A proud dog mum to two cavoodles, she’s the sort who genuinely gets a kick out of an organised pantry and a perfectly sorted Tupperware drawer — so creating calm, orderly spaces is right up her alley. Clients love her warmth and her knack for turning everyday chaos into something that just feels good to come home to — and we’ve got an abundance of amazing feedback to prove it.
The Adelaide Suburbs Where Family Clean Crews Work
Adelaide is well-proportioned for this kind of work. The inner ring suburbs are densely residential with strong demand, and the travel between them is manageable. Domestic cleaning jobs in Adelaide concentrate in the eastern and inner suburbs, with growing work across the south and select northern areas.
- Inner and eastern suburbs: Unley, Norwood, Hyde Park, Kensington, Burnside, Rose Park, Glenelg
- Eastern corridor: Campbelltown, Athelstone, Magill, Rostrevor
- Northern suburbs: Golden Grove, Tea Tree Gully, Para Hills, Salisbury
- Southern suburbs: Brighton, Hallett Cove, Mitcham
- Western suburbs: Henley Beach, Semaphore
Most Adelaide crew members work within a defined band — inner east through to the coast, or a northern or southern corridor — rather than crossing the city for each booking. The grid layout of the inner suburbs makes travel predictable. A car covers most of the city comfortably; for inner-suburb work between Unley and Norwood, options are more flexible.
Who This Work Attracts in Adelaide
Adelaide’s workforce has a few distinct threads. There’s a large and well-established healthcare sector — nurses, allied health workers, and support staff at Flinders Medical Centre, the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and the broader network of community health services — many of whom have irregular shift patterns and a real appetite for supplementary income that flexes around them, not against them.
There’s also a significant student population across the University of Adelaide, UniSA, and Flinders University, with daytime availability that suits the work well.
The people who tend to settle into this work and stay:
- Healthcare workers with rotating shifts who want extra income that doesn’t lock into a fixed schedule
- Parents who want consistent morning or midweek work that wraps up before school pickup
- Students with blocks of daytime availability between study commitments
- Semi-retirees who want to keep working, but on their terms and at their pace
- Career-changers stepping out of retail, hospitality, or office work who want something physical, independent, and genuinely paid
- Existing cleaners already doing this kind of work who want better rates, more reliability, and a team they can reach
The thread running through all of them: a genuine care for other people’s homes, the reliability to show up as agreed, and the kind of practical attention that notices what a room needs without being asked.
Real support — What It Looks Like When Things Come Up
The crew care team is a group of real people with a phone number. Not an email queue or a form.
Here are the situations Adelaide crew members use them for:
- A same-day cancellation — a family calls off a booking with two hours’ notice. The team helps you work out the impact and whether there’s anything else available in your area.
- Leave or holiday cover — when you’re away, available crew members can be connected to your household temporarily so the relationship doesn’t lose momentum.
- An introduction that doesn’t feel right — occasionally a match, isn’t what was expected. The team is there if you need them.
- First-booking nerves — plenty of crew members want a quick conversation before their first booking with a new household. The team is there for exactly that.
- Changes to your situation — a health issue, a shift in availability, a change of suburb. The team helps you manage the transition without losing what you’ve built.
Most cleaning work in Adelaide — and most places — doesn’t come with this. The thinking at Family Clean is simple: a crew member who has someone to call when things go sideways is a crew member who stays, does better work, and builds the kind of consistent match that households genuinely value. The crew care team is how we make that real.
