Why Sydney Cleaners Choose Family Clean

“I clicked an ad for hourly cleaning with no idea where it’d lead. Now I travel across Sydney, leave clients blown away every time, and the genuine admiration I get makes this the best job I’ve ever had.”

— Matthew, Parramatta

“One client in particular is quite stressed and discusses particular issues with me as she might do with a friend. We chat every week before service and one soon realises that one’s ear is as important a tool as the vacuum!”

— Deb, Port Hacking

“What I enjoy most about working with Family Clean is how supportive and positive everything feels. It genuinely feels like a team where people respect each other, and I really appreciate the flexibility and the clear communication. It makes a big difference in my day to day.”

— Ana, North Sydney

How We Work Together

You stay independent

You work as an independent contractor, not an employee — your ABN, your hours, your week. You choose which suburbs you cover, the days you work, and which matches you say yes to. Most crews build their week around school hours, Monday to Friday, and keep evenings and weekends their own.

How clients get matched to you

This is the careful part. Using everything you share when you join — your background, experience, skills and preferences — alongside each family’s needs and wishlist, we pair you by location, availability and overall fit. When a match comes through, you see the details before you decide. Get it right and it sticks: the same home, the same family, the same time each week or fortnight.

What FC handles, what’s on you

We handle the matching, the admin, and the support — including a Crew Care team you can actually call, plus temporary cover for your regulars when you’re away or unwell, so you don’t lose your run. On you: an active ABN, your own public liability insurance, and a genuine care for every home you walk into.

⏰ 1 year with FC

Ana came to FC in mid-2025 with a varied care background — from housekeeping to childcare and aged-care support — and it shows in how she works: thoughtful, organised, and genuinely invested in the people whose homes she’s in. Covering North Sydney and the wider Sydney area, she takes pride in leaving every space better than she found it, bringing a clean, cosy, good-energy feel to every home.

Sydney Cleaning Jobs FAQs

The questions you’re Googling at 11pm — answered straight.

Yes. Because you’re an independent contractor (not an employee), you need an active ABN. If you don’t have one yet, it’s a free application through the ABR — we can point you in the right direction during onboarding.

No — every client supplies their own products and equipment. It’s a hygiene rule (nothing travels between homes) and a practical one (you’ll use products and tools the family has chosen for their own floors, surfaces and fabrics). A typical kit includes a vacuum, mop, bucket, cloths, brushes, multi-purpose spray, glass cleaner and floor cleaner. Each family gets a Handy Equipment List at the booking stage, so the gear is ready before your first visit.

Quick tip: If you want to be extra prepared, some of our most experienced crews suggest bringing a small emergency kit with you the first time you visit each client — just in case. Think a general cleaning spray, a few extra microfibre cloths, and some paper towels. It’s not a requirement, but it’s a small touch our seasoned pros swear by for first visits.

You’ll need your own public liability insurance, in your name, before your first booking with families. It protects both you and the home in the rare event something goes wrong on a job. Once you’re through onboarding, most new crew members start their first service within the first fortnight, then build towards their preferred schedule over the following weeks as new matches come through. Demand varies by suburb, so inner-city areas tend to move quickest.

Absolutely. Most of the work sits within school hours, Monday to Friday — ideal if you want to be home for pickup or keep your evenings and weekends to yourself. Tell us your hours when you join and we’ll only offer matches that fit.

It happens, even with careful matching. If the fit isn’t right after a clean or two, and a conversation between you and the family can’t smooth it over, get in touch with us early — we’ll help to explore a new match.

No. Every match is an offer. You see the booking details before deciding, and accepting or passing is your choice. The clearer you are about your availability and preferences, the more often the matches you receive will be ones worth saying yes to.

No fixed minimum. Some Sydney crew do a few hours a week, others build out to much more. We’ll talk through the volume of work you’re after at onboarding and match accordingly.

What Sydney Clients Say About Their Crews

★★★★★

“We are so lucky we got matched with Matthew! We used other companies for cleaning services before, but realised that cleaning only was not enough for our growing family with 2 young kids and a dog. Matthew takes house keeping to the next level! Not only we have a clean and organized house, but also my anxiety levels are down and happiness levels are up ☺️. Matthew does not only follow instructions, but also proactively takes initiative which is exactly what we were after. Even our dog Sunny is absolutely smitten by Matthew ☺️

“I have been using Family Clean now for several months, they have connected me with 2 lovely women who have made such a difference to my life. Alysha is fantastic, very detailed, and nothing is an issue. As a family of 4, 2 FT working parents with big jobs and 2 teenage boys, the help that Alysha provides frees me and my husband up, so that we can actually enjoy our weekends!!”

“Kam our new cleaner is an absolute magician, I can’t speak her praises more highly. What she can get done in the same time we had our previous cleaners do is second to none. She’s also just such a delightful human being! Family clean has been so fantastic in helping us find the right person for our needs.”
