Spring is our favourite season at Family Clean, but did you know that having a clean and organised home is only half the benefit of a thorough spring clean? Your home is an extension of yourself, and a purge of dirt and clutter around it will have a fantastic knock on effect in other areas of your life leaving you feeling refreshed and uplifted.
Ditch the Witch
You won’t move forward with toxic people dragging you down like a festering anchor. Make September the month you break free from their stranglehold of negativity. Acknowledge the role they have had in your life and be grateful for their contribution – everyone we encounter affects us in some way, even if it’s to teach us to be more mindful of our behaviour – then cut them loose.
Review your Habits
Just as clutter stops you finding the things you want, so do bad habits. Write a list of your worst habits such as running late in the morning because you can’t decide what to wear, scoffing the kids’ leftovers, or getting sucked down the Pinterest hole when you should be doing something else, and replace each negative action with a positive. For example, instead of trying not to run late in the morning, aim to have your clothes ready the night before. Teach your children to scrape their plates as soon as they leave the table, and schedule some dedicated “me” time when you can browse and pin without feeling guilty.
Prioritise your Health
Spruce up your fitness regime by treating yourself to something new. “New” could mean a snazzy outfit for the gym, a fitness tracker, or even an entry into an upcoming event. If you’re emerging from a winter where you barely poked your head out of your cocoon then doing something fun will help get you back into a good routine. Support your exercise efforts by cleaning up your diet, replacing processed foods which whole ones and adding greens and goodness where you can.
